Icom M423G - No GPS fix

Hi People,

Recently bought a new Icom M423G VHF radio for our boat. This has built in GPS but I cannot get a position or time to display. I have connected it to the split arial port on our Raymarine AIS Class B 700 Receiver as stated in the manual for the unit but no go.
Any one have any experience with this setup or any thoughts ?
Thanks.

Hi, I have a similar problem with an M423G mounted at the chart table down below.
Did you find a solution? Thanks Nigel

Re: Icom M423G - No GPS fix

Hi Nigel,

Yes, it is now working. I spoke to the Technician where I bought the unit and they said it was probably the location of the unit down in the saloon/Chart Table. They said give it some time and see what happens.
I left the radio on and you can see the aerial icon flashing in top corner as its trying to get a fix.
In about 20 minutes, it had a position and posted it on the display.
It was a matter of wait and see what happens...in my case, it took some time but it eventually got the fix.
