Icom IC-M700 Pro has LSB?

Hi,

I can acquire an M700 Pro for a good price, here in Europe.

I guess it is a european model.

I want to use it both on HAM frequencies and possibly on Marine HF-SSB after acquiring the requested license here in Belgium.

The M-700 Pro normally works on USB for voice SSB.

Does it have LSB-capability? If not, can it be programmed or modified to do so?

Thanks

Jan

No other takers on this question?

I would ask the seller or -even better- see it working....

Sheesh!

It's not as if iCom does not do the right thing.

The M700 manual is available for free download to anyone, including a prospective buyer, who cares to use a web browser:

Manual Downloads | Icom Inc

Turn to p. 27.

Compare that with the comparable page of the iCom M710 manual.

Note that both the M700 and M710 were produced in 'versions'. That means that components could be added to give LSB functionality.

OK... so we can pencil that response in as a 'maybe'...

Ever tried to buy components for out of production radios??

Re: Icom IC-M700 Pro has LSB?

BTW... the link you provided is for the M700... OP's query was about the M700Pro which on page 23 of the *700Pro* manual it is stated

'• Mode: USB, AM, CW, FSK and AFSK (available modes differ with version)'

Sheesh.....

Re: Icom IC-M700 Pro has LSB?

This is a 700 RadioPics Database - Marine Transceivers - Icom IC-M700
Turn 'mode' switch hard left to select LSB.

This is a 700Pro
ICOM Canada :IC-M700PRO
Mode selected by push button....

Chalk.... Cheese....

Personally I would pass and buy a s/h 710....

Re: Icom IC-M700 Pro has LSB?

Thank you guys.

Indeed I will go and see with the seller if this M700Pro on sale does have LSB. There are also older build's where the frequency access via VFO is a bit les convenient and I have no clue for this rig on sale.

Thanks,

Jan

Hi "Mighty Alan" yes of course I checked the net and found different info some do have LSB others not. The seler in this case claims it does.

We'll see.

Make sure also to check whether that unit allows you to enter a channel or frequency using the keyboard. My understanding is that most Marine versions of M700Pro generally did have active keyboards. Most Terrestrial versions had inactive keyboards and would require either a software or hardware modification to active the keyboard.
