Icom IC-7100

I'm in the market for a new SSB and I noticed on Icom's website Marine Products - Icom America that they're coming out with a new model. There's a video about it but someone must have flunked Marketing 101 as all the video describes are the connecting ports. Woohoo! That's what I've always wanted in an SSB! Connecting ports! How lucky can a guy get?!

Does anyone know anything else about the 7100? Besides how many connecting ports it has?

I think the IC-7100 is a ham radio not marine. The video is just showing up under the marine page. Marine radios have the M in the number as in IC-M###. If you do a search for IC-7100 it shows a portable ham radio with HF/VHF/UHF. Might be good for boat use but not a marine radio. Hope that helps and I am reading it right.

From what i can tell on the site the only marine SSB they still make is the 802. Too bad I think the 710 was their best but the 802 is a good radio too now that they have fixed some of the problems.

I see you have a Contest, I owned a Contest 25 for many years, nice boats.

After looking at the video, I'd definitely say its a marine SSB as they talk about ports for connecting a GPS, a DSC antenna, etc. in fact, all they talk about is ports!

I think you might be miss understanding, they do mention GPS briefly but nothing about DCS. The 2 antenna connections are for HF and VHF both ham bands. This radio looks similar to the IC-706 another ham radio. We may have to wait till they publish more info but i am pretty sure this is a ham and not marine radio.

Check the specs - IC-7100 HF/VHF/UHF Transceiver - Specifications - Icom America

Only transmits on amateur bands.
