How to remove paddle wheel transducer?

I'll be grateful if someone can tell me how to remove this paddle wheel thingy. It is missing a tooth. Are replacements available? What make is it? Is it worth replacing? (Speed through water is about the only reading I was looking forward to with this new (to me) boat I'm doing up...
Can't upload the photo either! Keeps giving this message. What am I doing wrong? It is a jpg file...

It’s, almost certainly, an “Airmar” transducer. ➥ https://www.airmar.com/index.html

See ➥ https://www.airmar.com/xref.html

They do sell paddle wheel kits.

Re: How to remove paddle wheel transducer?

I can not see the image for some reason?
Myself I have Raymarine Autohelm Bidata.
It was easy to remove the paddlewheel assembly when I was on drydock and later intentionally beached my cat. I do have a dummy plug to replace it so in theory it could be none in water but not keen to get any water to the bilge.
That paddlewheel had one paddle broken so I bought a kit to replace it from a boating shop. Easy job but that paddlewheel often gets jammed with weeds so I attend that by snorkeling.

Re: How to remove paddle wheel transducer?

I pulled mine the other day to clean the paddlewheel (which reminds me that I AGAIN neglected to put the plug back in when we returned from sailing - argh). As I was cleaning the paddlewheel, I had also been wondering how to remove it, if it was ever needed. Good to know.

Re: How to remove paddle wheel transducer?

It's pretty easy.

There is a pin on which the paddle wheel spins - just push it out from the side until you can grab it with pliers. New kit has everything you need - pin, wheel, gaskets.

If broken replace. If not broken, but has growth - use a stiff brush (i use metal brush) and clean. Works like a charm and it's clean in 2 minutes.

On an old unit that pin can be a little reluctant to come out. I found that investing in a suitably small drift made the process rather easier after having failed with a variety of improvised pointy things
