High voltage

Whenever i give it just a lil rpms the voltage will go to 16 or 17 any ideals what it is and price ranges? Just bought a 1980 23 ft bayliner Monterey cuddy. I was told by one place 600 just for part and wouldn't say what it was.

Re: High voltage

I’ll guess your alternator regulator is bad. Likely internally regulated.

Pull the alternator and take it to an alternator shop. Way less than $600

Re: High voltage

Your info does not include a location.
If you are in the US most auto parts stores will check the alternator at no charge.

Maybe the original poster can answer as to motor size and type.
My understanding is this particular model was an I/O with 130-300HP options.
