High voltage
Whenever i give it just a lil rpms the voltage will go to 16 or 17 any ideals what it is and
price
ranges? Just bought a 1980 23 ft bayliner Monterey cuddy. I was told by one place 600 just for part and wouldn't say what it was.

I’ll guess your
alternator
regulator
is bad. Likely internally regulated.
Pull the
alternator
and take it to an alternator shop. Way less than $600

If you are in the US most auto
parts
stores will check the alternator at no charge.
