Has anyone run into the Starlink 60 days outside of home country limit?

Just curious if anyone has actually hit the limit that Starlink claims you can only spend 60 days outside of our home country? My Uber driver today who said his main job was working at Starlink (in sales no less), seemed confident we wouldn't have any issues travelling outside the US with it. However, it says on the Starlink site you're limited to 60 days outside of the home country without changing your address.

This is one of the main reasons I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.

Always trust a salesman when he tells you the fine print doesn't mean what it says. Probably not a good plan.

You can of course get the (very) pricey Maritime version for fully mobile operation. You think as long as they are selling that, they are just going to ignore your pushing beyond the limits of the cheaper user license? Trust me, Mr Musk did not get to be rich by not watching the details like this.

No doubt, starlink maritime pricing has nothing to do with their cost, but is strictly because they can charge that much given the competition. Methinks the 60 day rule is probably to get around some legal issues they might have in countries which have taxes on internet providers.

I thought that the Maritime version was aimed more at the cruise ships and luxury yachts rather than the couple cruising.

I expect there will be a more reasonable option released in a while.

There are many discussions on the thread topic on the Facebook Starlink on boats page. Doesn't seem people's service is getting turned off.

Why ? The market is tiny.

Yes starlink has to have a separate license to operate in each country it offers its services. This includes countries you might rock into ( because starlink is a transmitter and hence must be licenced)

Countries apply various stipulations to internet providers etc.

I checked out that FB group, thanks for mentioning it. It looks like the "2 month" stipulation hasn't been around long enough to definitively prove one way or another. Anecdotal comments are that people haven't experienced being cut off after 2 months, but this may just be because starlink haven't been hassled by local governments to pursue it yet, could just be a matter of time.

The stipulation was reported more than 2 months ago and no one has reported being cut off yet.

Reading the terms and conditions on “ portability “ which is what starlink calls it. Is not that they will cut you off. It’s that they can optionally register the service address in the new country and then charge you the agreed country tariff

Musk will use Starlink to fund his Mars colony.

Every customer he retains is a bridge to that.
