I’ve got a WEST
MARINE handheld WHF160.
It’s been a great unit for many years.
Recently, the Volume/Squelch button has been acting up. Sometimes it would need to be held 5-10 seconds before allowing adjustments of vol/sq.
Now, it will not allow any adjustments at all.
I can hear the button clicking as I press it , but nothing happens.
I’ve charged the
battery, removed and reinstalled the
battery and I’ve scrubbed around the button with running
water and a toothbrush. It’s waterproof.
If it wasn’t a waterproof
vhf, I’d take it apart and clean the button contacts with alcohol and a q-tip. Due the need for being waterproof, I’m hesitant to disassemble it.
Any suggestions before I disassemble???
Thank you in advance!
