Halo 20+ Firmware Upgrade Alternative

Is there a way to upgrade the firmware on a Halo 20+ without a Navionics MFD? I’ve done IT for a living almost all my life and firmware is easy to upgrade on everybody’s products. Worst case you have to use a serial connection or something similar. For such an awesome product with a ethernet connection, I have no comprehension why they wouldn’t provide an alternative method other than they want you to buy an MFD which you don’t need if you use Opencpn or they have some bazaar reason not to right a simple script to do it with an Ethernet to computer interphase. Anybody have a better solution?
