Question Garmin GDL30 + Bahamas Exumas = ? or should I look @ something for my classic E120?

So... I've been studying the threads regarding satellite weather in the Bahamas... and honestly, I'm baffled. The "map" for Sirrius and XM are odd ot say the least...

Here's what I am interested in:
Real-World Experience in the Southern most part of Exumas (Maybe even Deans Hole)...

1. Will the Garmin GDL30 (I have an older 4212) get me connected reliably?
2. Am I better off using the interface for my Raymarine Classic e120?

I also have a Delorme InReach.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Pete

I have been using Sirius weather with an E80 and have been pleased with the results. You can get an SR100 receiver with the antenna for less than $100 off eBay.

Have you been using it in the Exumas, Bahamas? (or what waters have you been using it in?)

Thanks,
Pete

I am on the west coast but I do not think there is a difference in coverage or the quality of the broadcast. One thing I find useful is to have the weather on the display I am using for planning a voyage. You can overlay the wind and weather patterns and step through nicely. The benefit of satellite weather is that it is always there and gives you the warnings and so on. If you want to do weather routing then you are better off with a PC program like Raytech Navigator but it needs gribs.
