Garmin Chart Plotter On The Fritz

The screen on our Garmin GPSMap 740 chart plotter has become scrambled (unreadable pixelation) on several occasions, and has gone completely blank on another occasion. A restart has always solved the problem.

I plan to turn the unit on and wiggle the connections to see if it is a power issue, but I assume it's not a power issue because I don't think that would account for the scramble screen. (The screen stayed scramble for probably 30 seconds before we restarted it.)

I will also check my data SD card for dirt or salt.

Has anyone else had a similar problem with their chart plotter?
