Do you mean the basemap that comes with the units, or the BlueChart maps that you have to buy?

I meant the basemaps but it doesn't matter now. I went with the newer handheld with the rocker wheel. Its on sale at WM for $350 plus a $50 rebate and it comes complete with very good charts including the Bahamas. A very good deal IMHO.

Uh, trust those charts at your peril. Assume they're incomplete and out of date. Use good paper charts and the GPS as source of your location. Its charts should be relied on only to key you to where you are on the paper charts. And even they'll be out of date by 6-12 months.

To be clear, I'm not a "paper or die" Luddite, just someone who's learned that "just 'cause it's on a computer screen doesn't make it so".
