Garmen 492 GPS Problem

This charting unit came with our boat and worked well for a couple of years. After replacing it with a new Lowrance HDS unit it was relegated to a backup role. After a few months of not using it it started to turn itself off shortly after I started the unit. I decided to pull the unit from the boat and after checking all the connections the same thing happens. At first it starts up and runs for a while before shutting down but eventually just shuts itself down almost immediately.

Anything to be done?

Check your software version. If before 3.30, you should upgrade as there was an issue with satellite acquisition that could cause the unit to shut off. Latest version is 3.40
