Fuse Panel Labels

What do people here do to label their own switches and fuses neatly and professionally?

Some of my original labels match, such as the obvious "bilge pump" and "cabin lights".

But most don't and the store bought type still don't suit.

I've tried computer printer but the black ink fades. And mine are white type on black background to further complicate things.

I don't want raised type as in dymo.

So what to do??

What I did...Typed labels on computer...set printer controls to black background & white lettering, printed, cut paper to fit and taped to panel with clear tape. ...Bob

Re: Fuse Panel Labels

search for online label makers. They worked well for us, with plastic labels and engraved lettering. They have self adhesive backs.

Re: Fuse Panel Labels

You must have better ink in your printer...I did exactly what you described but as I said, the black ink turns brown and then completely fades away.

Re: Fuse Panel Labels

I use a modern dymo that prints onto plastic tape. To give the labels a raised plaque effect, I use the double sided tape that is used to attached car trim. As it so happens the tape is exactly the same height as the dymo tape and the dymo tape is more or less the same height as the stock labels.

You didn't get the last part...I covered the printed paper with a piece of clear tape---packing tape, that covers the black protects it and secures it to the surface. Bob

Re: Fuse Panel Labels

Brother label makers can use a white letter on black tape. It may not be a perfect match but you can get close. The other brand-name label makers should also have this tape if you hunt around. Computer printing often depends on inkjet dyes, which can fade in the sun. Laser printers don't fade nearly as much.

Re: Fuse Panel Labels

Try label makers for electrical wires and components. The sticky is good and small text is the norm.
