Furuno 1830 radar

Hi there.
I am not sure that I am in the right forum, but I hope you can help me out.

I just bought this second hand radar, and I want to connect it with my GPS. Does anybody know the name of the 4 pin connector, so I can order a new one on some online shop? Maybe eBay or aliexpress?

Second question is. Can I connect a Flux compass to the gyro compass connector?

Regards from denmark.
Franz

Re: Furuno 1830 radar

I can't help witht the part numbers, but I had an 1830 on my last boat. It's an excellent piece of gear.

Cheers,

Re: Furuno 1830 radar

I have not even installed it yet, how was the sensitivity in heavy rain?
I am glad to hear it served you well.

Re: Furuno 1830 radar

In using a radar effectively, you need to make adjustments for different conditions. I was frequently changing the gain, range, brightness, rain clutter and sea clutter. With this radar I was able to pick up logs, kayaks, seagulls(!), squalls. While in rain, I'd make the adjustment that gave the best picture. In Southeast Alaska it rains a lot. The radar worked fine. There's a reason so many commercial boats use Furuno stuff. My radar was on 95% of the time. The 1830 is a bit bulky for my current boat. Otherwise it would be on my list.

Here's a link to the Furuno support area for the 1830:

Check the manual for the connector you want and look at the list of available connectors/cables.

Cheers,

In my experience Furuno has a fantastic customer support department. Try calling them.

I can't seem to find their tech support number in Denmark.
