flashing display in deep measurement

Y have an Uniden QT 206 digital deep sounder, with a Airmar P79 Inside-the-hull transducer.

Recently the display has started randomly to flashing keeping the last measurement, this is an intermittent fault, sometimes one hour, or so.

I check connectors but no luck.

My last opportunity seems to be that the oil between the transducer and the hull is insufficient and maybe there is some air in the surface of the transducer, but I can’t remove the transducer (maybe it is glued to the base….) so I plan to drill a hole near the border, because the sensor is 1.75” and the base is 3.86” so it looks that I have room between the sensor itself and the border, and I like to use this hole to push new oil with a syringe and close the hole after that, for example with rubber compound.

Any suggestions ?????
