Fixing burned autopilot screen

I have a Comnav NX2 autopilot on my boat, and everything functions perfectly except the screen has gotten burned enough to where it is unreadable. Rather than buying a new autopilot, I took the screen apart and pulled the polarizers off the glass - the tinted polarizer on the front it seems you can buy, but my problem now is sourcing the transflective polarizer. Has anyone done this before, where might I be able to find one?

I called Comnav and they do not supply any spare parts as this product line is discontinued.

Try here:

If you Google try with transflective polariser film.
If you provide the potential supplier with the old polarizer they may be able to assist even better.

Good luck.

Re: Fixing burned autopilot screen

My vintage Humminbird Fish Finder (Depth) Finder did the same thing.

I found a replacement on EBay that was exact for around $30. (but kept the old one for parts)

All I had to do was calibrate it with the buttons on the front panel and it worked perfectly. I used the same base so no rewiring was needed either.
