I'm contemplating picking up a Garmin
LVS32 through-hull panoptix livescope transducer
to put up front in one of the hulls of our 48' catamaran
. I had the PS51TH on our last boat
powerboat) and it was a super handy tool to have for our extended coastal cruising. The livescope looks like the next evolution of the PS51TH and better in every way.
All of these units are marketed around fishing
, but I just want to use it for not-running-aground. The LVS32 seems like it might be pretty superior to the PS51 -- the PS51 had really large sonar responses, so finding the bottom was always as much art as science. The LVS32 seems much better in that regard, from the various non-Garmin videos I've seen online.
Have any actual cruiser-type people tried this unit on here and have any comments on it?
