Re: DSC Distress Calls --- I can't take it anymore!

As I say for Distress , Urgency , and Safety DSC you cannot disable alerts.

Switch off your radio. That’s about it.

Yes I got the alerts from the refugee issue , but there’s wasn’t 20 distress alerts.
, I get Olympia radio quite clearly

Maybe if you can disable some of the DSC calls yours doesn't alarm as often but on mine I'm not seeing a way to do that.
I simply turn my marine VHF off and the dual band HAM radio on when at anchor.

We too get MOB alerts on our Vesper Cortez that nobody else near us receive. Sometimes they say they are 50 feet away.

Vesper has not been helpful with this at all.

That’s a good idea , but personally I don’t leave my vhf on. But a plain receive only unit would be useful ( I’m thinking of an SDR unit )

I remember when the Cortex system was coming out that you were not a fan. Maybe rightfully so. Regardless, I bought it for multiple reasons with one of the primary being the remote monitoring. It's also my anchor alarm which is really important to me. So it's not so easy to just turn it off.

Another issue is that Vesper has been sold to Garman. I'm not crazy about Garman so we'll see where that goes. It is a nice system in that it can be updated with extra features easily. They just added a hailer and signal horn capability what is pretty cool and cost zero. Fully intergraded.

DSC Distress Calls --- I can't take it anymore!

My goto radios are Standard Horizon , every boat I rip out the existing radio. My current is a 1850 nmea 2000 compatible radio and remote mic at the helm.

The distress alerts nicely appear in my plotter

Sounds to me like a HAM radio with MARS mods to include marine VHF band is exactly what you describe… just don’t transmit if you don’t want.
