DSC Distress Alert Message Test No. 2

I recently bench tested a newer VHF Marine Band Class-D DSC radio qualified to ITU-Rec. M.493-13 by transmitting (into a dummy load) several DSC distress alert messages. I describe the test and my observations in

SUMMARY OF THE TEST

The newer radio:

--was simple to configure for automatic position updates; it has its own GPS receiver built into the radio chassis;

--was simple to operate for composing and sending a distress alert message; and,

--sent the distress position to a resolution of 0.001-minute of latitude and longitude.
