Cruisair problem

Hi

Hoping someone might be able to assist. Have an erratically behaving Cruisair unit.

It will operate in Cool mode for the first 20 sec upon being switched on, then it goes into a 90 sec timer countdown during which time the cooling ceases. Afterwards it returns to Cool mode for another 20 sec only, and then back to the timer countdown - a continuing cycle, with the result that no cooling actually takes place.

Have done a factory default reset, to no avail.

Has anyone had a similar experience and can advise why it enters this mode and how to correct it?

Thanks

Re: Cruisair problem

Have you checked and cleaned the cooling water passages from inlet to exhaust?

Re: Cruisair problem

Thanks for the advice - will try what has been suggested and revert if the problem is solved. What is frustrating is it actually worked fine when the ac guy came to refill the gas and tested it, so thought the problem had been resolved - yet the very next time we switched it on it recurred!

Re: Cruisair problem

From the owner manual:

Refrigerant Gas
The refrigerant gas used in the air conditioning system is
adequate for the life of the system. Routine “seasonal”
charging of the system is not typically necessary."

For a full copy, google "SMX II Control Systems (DX) Owner Manual"

Re: Cruisair problem

Feedback on the misbehaving Cruisair.

The Dometic rep replied to us with the following: "The countdown you are seeing is a result of a pressure switch, either high or low opening up. After it does this a few times you should get a shut down and the display will flash either HI/PS or LO/PS. If HI/PS is the fault it would be due to lack of water flow. If LO/PS is displayed you could be low on refrigerant."

We resolved the problem by cleaning the filter intake. Now have a happily operating a/c again.

Re: Cruisair problem

"Situation
Compressor cycles on and off.
Solution
1. Dirty air filter. Clean lint screen or air filter.
2. Water flow restriction. Clear restriction. Clean strainer."

Look for L-2086 Operation/Installation manual pdf, great manual to have

I stumbled upon this thread while searching for advice on replacing compressor rubber shock mounts on a Cruisair 16K model, anyone care to recommend a specific model? Found JW Winco Rubber Cylindrical Vibration Isolation Mount on Amazon, maybe they will do
