Console glare in open bridges

For boats with open bridges the glare of sunlight can be a problem for LCD displays typically used for many navigational systems. Even with a bimini, reflective glare on a bright day can still overwhelm the displays.

What are the options for coping with this problem?

I suppose one idea would be to put a 3-inch shield around the display.
