Connectivity/Compatibility Questions

I bought my boat with an older Raymarine c70 chartplotter. I cannot update the charts without first upgrading the firmware, and the firmware upgrade is no longer available from Raymarine. So....

I've decided to bite the bullet and purchase a new e7. My question is: will it be compatible, or can it be adapted to be compatible, with my existing equipment:
- Raymarine radome (not the spiffy new HD radar)
- Tack function on my new X5 autopilot
- Wind info from the ST60

All help/advice/information greatly appreciated.

Wowww!! Thanks, Sailmonkey! I'm so glad I asked, and you answered. I was probably trying to download the wrong firmware update or something. You may have saved me some serious money.

No problem, I'm still updating firmware on 20 year old garmin handhelds.......I am a cheap bastard (and still young.....does it get worse??)

A source that has saved me countless hours and money has been the Raymarine Technical Forum. ONce you join this group, there is outstanding support and expertise. I wasted so much time and effort before learning about this group. It's free and takes about one day to become a member... totally worth it! John

I agree the Raymarine forum is a great place. The Raymarine team will take the time to work out your problem and help with installation issues as well.

Thanks to George, and again to John!
I signed up with the forum yesterday, and they not only answered all my questions, they sent me instructions for troubleshooting and are waiting for voltage readings from me so they can determine where the problems with my ST60 are coming from.

I am really impressed with how quickly they respond and how fully helpful they are!
