Connecting Garmin 3000 to 4000 Series MFDs

I am still trying to piece together a "do-it-all-at-the-right-price" network. The latest incarnation would place a garmin 3206 at the helm and a 4008 (or 4208) at the nav station.

My question for the techies: what sort of functionality will I get out of the helm station (3206). It seems that 3206 is network compatible, but not N2K compatible. Does that mean I can run my N2k items through the nav station 4000 series and then forward that data to the helm via the network cable? Or, will I lose function at the helm? Any help in understanding how these interfaces work would be greatly appreciated.

Garmins ability to transfer data from nmea to other plotters over it's garmin network is very variable and depends on software versions. I found for example that wind data for some reason didn't transfer. It's aquestion for garmin techs
