I have an Aviara AV32 and the Ilmor heading
sensor has been inaccurate ever since I took
delivery last year. It can be off by as much as 90 degrees depending on where the
boat is actually pointed, and the error is somewhat variable.
Aviara said there were issues with the heading sensor's cable being routed too close to a speaker. I tried removing the speaker and the errors were significantly reduced, although it still wasn't perfect. Aviara said they used a "pre-programmed deviation" to account for the speaker.
I'm wondering if that makes sense - from reading about this, I thought the only way to fix a cable routed next to a speaker is to re-route the cable. So I was hoping someone could help me sanity-check what I'm hearing from the dealer and manufacturer.
Thanks!
