Commissioning AP in the Columbia river

Hi all,

2.5 years ago I installed a new B&G AP head to replace my dead one. Commissioning was a PITA as we had to find the page to calibrate the compass. B&G was of no help, took 3 days. Sigh. My buddy is an IT guy btw.

Anyway, after that the boat made it's turns etc and all was fine until we added stuff and disconnected the power to the AP which now needs recommissioning. I'm not sure I have the room to do this on the Columbia but I also wonder if it can even be done with the strong current we have now. Instead of a circle it's going to be an oval at best.

Thoughts?

It should take about 20 minutes at most not counting time in and out. Better to make real circles being swept downstream. Essentially you are generating a deviation card for the fluxgate compass. Look up "swinging a compass."
