Can I Adapt A Autohelm St5000 Sterndrive To A Sailboat?

i have the oportunity to get an autohelm st5000 sterndrive for a good price, can I use it for a medium displacement 35' sailboat?

The ST5000 Sterndrive uses a much smaller drive unit and I do not think that the throw on the drive would be sufficient. Not sure about motor size but I suspect that it is smaller also.

Way too little power in the drive unit. It was designed to control power assisted steering stern drives
