Re: Budget wifi based PC Nav system

I would still go the Ray wifi enabled way (new C and E, I think). But sure USD 1500 and upwards is expensivish.

How much is a set of muxes and wifi /COM devices to rig such a system from the regular kit of boat systems?

Anyway, I have (several) Laptop, OpenCPN, Matrix 2150 Seatalk, etc etc like you and am doing it all without a MUX just using the one built in Serial Port, and the other is a Serial to USB port.
Yes, OpenCPN is good. I just want to have wireless connection. What about Moxa Nport servers? There is plenty of them on Ebay, here is 4-port one for $50.

Just do not want to fork out $400 for a iMux or other multiplexer, waste of money.

I may install a budget chartplotter at helm to "multiplex" the nmea/seatalk inputs.
