Probably will have a stand alone log/depth indicator.

Provided you phone has GPS capability install iSailor and buy the charts you need. It's a fantastic bit of kit and does the job perfectly. pm me if you need more info (i have no financial involvement)!

Mate, go for iSailor, it's great! Does everything you need at the right price too.

Do you have isailor running with the autopilot steering working?
Struggling with getting the raymarine S2G steered with it. Have a yacht devices NMEA0183 and n2k dongle to wifi that delivers all nmea data to the isailor.

There is no reason to spend big dollars for a large chartplotter at the helm. I use my laptop with chart program of my choice at the nav station where I can create my route. Then I copy that route to my Garmin GPSMAP handheld which I have at the helm on the boat's power. Additionally, I can prepare my routes at home before the trip if I want to. This also allows other crew in the cabin to follow our progress.

GPS., Charts, depth.. Log is incorporated in the GPS. A chartplotter is handy
I Also use a sextant and N2000 Tamays. nav computer in case the electronics fail
