Broken ST60 Speed Screen - what to do?

Please help, as Raymarine has been grumpy and unhelpful.
I have 3 ST60 instruments, and the speedo developed a dark bloom in the centre and seems broken.
What is the best fix??
- second hand replacement?
- just replace speedo unit - will the wiring be the same?
- will the hole to fit it be the same?

This is my first boat (Beneteau Idylle) and I don't have any boating community around here, so all your advice and experience is really appreciated.

What I hope to avoid is having to rewire all the insides, and avoid having to replace all three units. Is that possible??? Tia

I think the i50 line is backwards compatible with the ST60. Or at least it was for wind. No wiring or transducer changes, just the display.

Re: Broken ST60 Speed Screen - what to do?

I purchased new screens for $95 each and replaced myself. Didn't take very long.

Keep an eye on Ebay. We sold ours when we upgraded our systems. They are often available used.

Re: Broken ST60 Speed Screen - what to do?

Honestly, before spending double or triple digits money on a new screen I would suggest to open up this one and replace the polarising sheet on it.

Here is a great video showing you how:

Just make sure you get the polarising film orientation correct (take the old one and rotation it to see where it lets light through and where it didn't and then do the same with the new film (sometimes they are even diagonal)

This is what I got https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08Q767R82/ for our VHF and chart plotter (c80) But I suggest maybe a film with adhesive side instead.

Worse case for this attempt is the $10 on the polarising sheet and your time.

Re: Broken ST60 Speed Screen - what to do?

I have found a fellow who repairs and restores digital boat gauges, GPS and fishfinders that are sun damaged. No charge if he cant fix it!
His repair prices are very good.
I sent him a Icom 802 SSB with a bad LCD and he replaced it for under half what it costs at an ICOM facility.
VERY HAPPY.

His contact. Sam at wmabde0@yahoo.com

He is located in FL, a place called Indiatlantic.

I was very happy to find him and dare say a lot of you folks may be too.
