B & G Zeus2 won’t shut off

I own a new to me B&G Zeus 2. Has anyone experienced issues to shut the unit off? If so were you able to solve the issue and how? The unit is on the latest SW 18.3, it is configured as the master unit (there is only unit anyhow) just the red +12V and black - 12V are connected. If I push and hold the power button the unit shuts down however it immediately restarts again. Thank you for your help!

I'm not near my boat at the moment, so I can't experiment ... but according to the manual, if you release the power button before the shutdown is complete then it will abort the shut-down ... Are you holding the button down long enough?

I just press the power-off icon and let it do it by itself ... sometimes I even just kill it at the breaker, it doesn't seem to complain.

Yes I am holding it long enough, experimented with the duration. Even if I try to shut it down via the menu the same happens and it starts again...

Strange ... Sorry then I'm out of ideas ... good luck.

If you turn off the breaker ... wait til it's gone quiet, then turn it on again ... does it fire up without pressing the power button? If so, then the problem might be that it's too keen to power-on, rather than not doing a proper power-off.

I tried that as well and it does not power up after supplying power again. I have to press the power button to start it again...

I have seen this. I figured I was holding too long and it was turning back on. but I wasn't too sure.

if you hit the power button once. a screen comes up allowing you to shut it down. that should work.

Yes that’s what I tried as well with the same result, it goes down and than starts again by itself.

I have B&G and Simrad, but I assume yours is similar. They can be wired to turn on if the power to the NMEA2000 network is on. If I try to turn them off via their power switch they 'sleep' but do not turn off. Are you sure yours is not wired this way?

Give customer service a call, they may know the answer. Somewhere in the set up menu I bet there is something that allows it to be remotely turned on, by another device, and that may be it.

Re: B & G Zeus2 won’t shut off

I wish that was true but unfortunately it is wired like in the first example, so just the red and black connected. So it should go off and stay off. Problem is that it does shut off but restarts by itself.

If the symptoms fit the second example ... there is still the possibility of a faulty power cord.

try disconnecting the power cord and (with power turned off) check for continuity between the red and yellow wires ... there should be none.

Re: B & G Zeus2 won’t shut off

It's acting exactly as if the yellow wire is connected to a hot line, 12V+. You'll have to find the yellow wire and disconnect it.

It's a B&G option to be able to turn the MFD's on and off from a remote location, like the nav station. Come to think of it, you might find a switch at the nav station that controls it.

That’s a good suggestion, I will try tonight. Thank you

The yellow wire is not connected to anything. Just the red and the black are connected. Tried the situation and bonded the yellow and red but then you cannot power down.
