B&G Triton display - hard reset?

Hi You all, one of my Tritons failed (page and enter buttons not working anymore) and I'd like to try to hard reset the display. What is the combination of buttons to keep pressed at powering it up?

Not aware of any sort of button combination on the Tritons to do a "reset." Can't you just power off the breakers? Or take the Triton apart and check the button wiring?

The owner's manual doesn't say anything about a hard reset

Page 2. Setup, system, reset to factory.

You can always call 1-800-628-4487 for B&G support.

If he can't press the enter button I don't think he's going to be able to reset that way

If he owns a boat, I am sure he owns a phone. Not sure if B&G has a support number for Norway, but his post suggests he speaks/writes/understands English pretty well.

Just trying to help.

Do you have an B&G MFD? If so, I would try to upgrade the firmware on the hung Triton. This should reset it back to factory default (in theory).

If you can't see the Triton in the network to upgrade, then it has probably failed and will need to be replaced (warranty)! I would phone B&G in that case.

Re: B&G Triton display - hard reset?

Hi, and thank You for the immediate and helpful replies!

Yes, I have a Zeus2 MFD and could try to install the software again. But theres 200 km distance between the the Triton at my desk and the MFD at the Yacht...

Yes, I've already called the Navico repair shop in Finland (not Norway) but they were not able to help as the unit is already out of warranty.

Yes, there is a "secret" combination of buttons on almost every electronic Yachting equipment just be found. Normally You'll be pressing 2..3 buttons at startup when powering on the unit.

And Yes, I suppose that I've alrady found the "secret" button combination for the Tritons as I had only two of the four buttons working.

Here it is what I did: I kept pressing the UP and DOWN buttons during the startup ( = powering it up). After that The display showed a testscreen I was not aware of before but I was not able to continue as the Enter button didn't work. BUT, after that at the next startup the display showed it's original screen (digital Speed and Depth) instead the whole screen analog Wind Speed display I had installed to be shown when the display buttons were still working.

So I have a dummy display now showing only the Speed and Depth but I'll keep it as a reserve or sell it cheaply at eBay if someone is interested in trying to repair it.

Fair winds to You all!
