B&G Speed Sensor

Will a b&g speed sensor fit any other head unit, I have the hole in the boat for one but I got rid of everything else but now a sensor has appeared, can I get a raymarine head unit and wire the sensor to it. ??

Re: B&G speed sensor

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Buster.

Raymarine Paddlewheel Speed Sensors have a Pulse Rate of 17,000 pulses per nautical mile (4.8 Hz per knot). Your B&G sensor would have to match that pulse rate.

Re: B&G speed sensor

I can't find a proper spec for the B&G paddlewheels, but the B&G calibration routine speaks of 3.4Hz/knot:

B&G | Calibration

The head units (all?) come with a calibration routine, manual or automatic, and should be able to compensate for the difference.

Matching connectors, wires, differing in color, will be the challenge.
