B&G Screen/Radar Failure

Greetings
I'm wondering if any others out there have had a similar experience to mine.
2-1/2 years ago my B&G Zuess 2 chartplotter quit after 4 years of use, after replacing it with the Zues 3 the radome quit shortly after, both after only 4 years of use. When I've asked if they would offer me a discount on a new radome I only get the standard boat show discount answer.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with either of these two items?

Re: B&G Screen/Radar Failure

Sorry to hear about such a short useful life for electronics that should last much longer.

For comparison, my 4G RADAR has been going strong since I installed it in 2014, and the 2- 12” Zeus2 MFD’s since 2017. [Full time cruisers.]

Of course all of the above have been deprecated for years, so once they fail…

Best wishes sorting everything out.

Cheers, Bill

I had the same radome, so I'm just trying to get some background feedback.
The closest partial explanation I could get was that the new doppler radomes have much better water ingress protection than the previous series. After I asked what if any guaranties they could make regarding the new units.
No doubt they probably improved the design when issues were found but I'd still appreciate a better explanation of what the original failure was.
When dealing with the tech support they instantly knew it was failed as soon as I reported the symptoms were.
Not sure if that I'll ever get a straight answer.
But when I did the refit I went all B&G stem to stern, comm backbone, auto pilot, 12" and 7" chartplotters, depth/speed, wind speed, separate stand alone instrument in case of a chartplotter failure, etc. So I will be purchasing the new doppler unit in the hopes it has a longer working life.

Re: B&G Screen/Radar Failure

They have a plan for failures under 5 years.
