B&G Elite Chartplotter

Have a B&G network (Hydra 2000 vintage installed 1999) including a B&G LCD Elite chartplotter. We were running a Garmin GPS 36 antenna for 11 years. The wiring was damaged and the antenna needed to be replaced. The Garmin GPS 36 is discontinued.

Replaced it with NMEA 0183 compatible Garmin 17x and cannot get the Elite to acknowledge the connection. Have checked, rechecked voltage, wiring etc. Any hints on getting these two devices to talk to each other?

Previous wiring with Garmin 36GPS Antenna

Garmin 36 Gray NMEA 0183 Ver 1.5 serial output to LCD Elite brown Rx+
Garmin 36 Black ground to LCD Elite yellow Rx-

Current wiring with 17x GPS Antenna

Garmin 17x Gray Tx+ to LCD Elite brown Rx+
Garmin 17x White/Red Tx – to LCD Elite yellow Rx –

Tried LCD Elite yellow to ground same as GPS 36 – no connection

The 17x has a channel B Rx+ and Rx-

Does the Elite want to receive or transmit? Any help here would be great.
