Hello,
I've seen this subject discussed before but have not found the solution, so thanks in advance for your forbearance.
My DST800 that came with the
boat slowly degraded in terms of initial accuracy of
depth and how long it took the chart plotter (Vulcan 9) to recognize the messages. The xducer died after a
haul out when I couldn't locate the blanking
plug, and as luck would have it, the
lift strap was on the speed log
wheel extension. It then degraded more rapidly and finally failed (no audible chirping).
I since replaced it and get the half-second chirps, but during my troubleshooting efforts, under Setting>Sonar>Installation>Select Devices, I eventually restored the Sonar to default. -I have since read this was not a great thing to do, since the
B&G has some kind of internal source for
depth (Really? Like form charted values?). Now when I view sources, it lists the plotter straight down the list.
I've also heard there is a way for the
B&G to 'auto-detect' the xducer, which makes sense to me since the PGNs are pretty much standard in N2k, right?
BTW, I once got it to report Sea Temperature, but the depth and speed are ---.
Anyway, if anyone can help me get this thing to recognize the (I)DST800 I would be really grateful.
Scott
