Autopilot problems

I have a Raymarine ST6001 autopilot that works fine 99.9% of the time. But just occasionally it goes from Auto to Standby by itself with no warning. So far it has just been an annoyance with the boat rounding up but next time it might be more serious. It is hard to fault-find when the problem is so intermittent.

Has anyone else had a similar issue?

HAH !

we have have ST8002 which does the same thing. only happens rarely but very frustrating - esp when under sail !

not seen it happen when sailing to wind angle

so far we live with it but i'm suspecting a loose / worn component or connection somewhere

what ACU do you have ?

have you contacted raymarine support forum ? i've found them quite helpful / efficient in the past. there is actually a thread abt this exact problem
