Autohelm ST5000 Plus SailPilot

I currently have a Autohelm ST5000 Plus SailPilot with a linear electic drive on my 42 ft catamaran and it has worked well. It is 15 years old and still going. I am headed offshore and would like be able to rely on it. I am interested in finding out how these units fail and how to fix them. I have been trying to find a repair or tech manual for it but so far have been unsuccessful. I read that it has an internal belt that should be changed every 400 hrs, Im sure that mine is original, but I have no info on the belt. Has anyone had experience with this unit?
