My
Autohelm control unit is mounted on the side of the
cockpit. The connector
plug had a problem short in it. After playing with it and getting it to connect you couldn't touch it or even look in its direction without it disengaging.
Finally I had had enough. I know
Autohelm would not have a replacement part for something this old and if they did I would cost way too much. Forget about
marine suppliers, they won't have a clue. I use to
work in the
electronics industry and I knew it was just a standard industrial
plug. I did a little
research and found it is a Amphenol C016 plug and recepticle. I didn't want to replace the straight plug with one just like it so I opted for a right angle unit. Amphenol won't sell direct to you unless you are Ford, GM or Boeing
buying $millions per year. The have many distributors. One is Digikey that will sell to individuals.
My right angle plug is C016 20F003 100 12
The recpt is C016 20C003 100 12
The plug cover for the recpt is C016 00u00 000 12.
Amphenol is an international corp and these are made in the Czech Republic. My new plug fits my original Recpt perfectly so I really didn't have to buy it. But now I have a spare just in case.
