Android App Called EarthNC (Nav Charts)
Very neat app. Lite version you need internet to access the maps, but for 10 bucks the full version allows you to download very large chart sections. Proving to be very accurate as well, I mean 3' accurate. So with my EVO and the waterproof case, who needs a handheld. Just thought others might like it as well. Let me know what you think.

I played with that one on my evo , but for the same price , I sure like the navionics app better , and I love nuti-charts . The active captain data base is the bomb . Nice to have all that info in your pocket , when you get on someone else's boat , and they have no electronics onboard .

Nice! I love my EVO, but now I LOVE my EVO!! Navionics app doesn't have a lite version to test, bummer. Nuticharts did though. Great info. Don't ya love technology these days!

I have also been playing with EarthNC on my Samsung Galaxy S android phone and like it. I have not used it on the boat yet - just play. Nonetheless, seems like a useful tool.

Re: Android App Called EarthNC (Nav Charts)
I've been using the EarthNC app and am happy with it also. The lite version didn't cut it because of the need to have a data connection all the time, but the paid version was worth the $10. You can then download the charts you need before getting out of data connection range. All the functionality of a regular chartplotter minus the $500 cost.

I like the avionics app so well , I have it on iPad and evo . For $9.99 it has the same maps that cost $199.00 for the avionics gold map that I bought for a lowrance chart plotter. Have replaced the lowrance with a garmin 740s , but I liked the avionics app so well , that I built a little slide in mount for my evo at the helm , that shades the phone , and has a plugin for my charger. Backup gps. I can also hang my iPad in front of the chart plotter if it goes down

Funny how phones are edging into serious GPS navigation space. I think we'll have to see a Garmin Phone or a Magellan Tablet soon, or those GPS guys will become obsolete.

Re: Android App Called EarthNC (Nav Charts)
I'm pretty sure the Lite vesion will cache the last 50 map tiles it has looked at, so it can retain maps without any internet access. Limited capacity, but some.
Don't believe anything that tells you 3' accuracy though. The GPS system, even with WAAS, simply does not provide that great an accuracy all of the time. No program can do any better than the system itself is capable of.

Re: Android App Called EarthNC (Nav Charts)
I just loaded EarthNC on my Galaxy 10.1 tablet. It's a nice sized screen. Looking forward to trying it out on the boat. Not as weather tight as I would like and it is WiFi only but I do have a large amount of RAM to save charts. Screen resolution is quite nice.

Re: Android App Called EarthNC (Nav Charts)
I agree, I just loaded this app because navionics doesnt have an app that works on my Toshiba tablet yet. I used this app this weekend before the storm rolled in. Very nice
