AIS NMEA 2000 BUS State

I installed a new everything after being struck by lightning last year. Installed a NMEA 2000 backbone system. Everything was working fine but the AIS has gone on the blink. My status and configuration reads fine and my VSWR is good, but now the 2000 BUS state is red. I am transmitting but I am not receiving, so my neighbour can see me fine on his plotter but I cannot see anyone. I changed it to other connections in the backbone with other items to check - and it is the same. It was working fine, but lock down I was in the Andaman sea and navy ordered me to stay where I was for 4 months so it was all switched off, and then a big lightning storm came over and I disconnected everything. When I went to finally leave, the NMEA BUS State was in the red. Also I put it on this morning and it was green for about an hour, first time in months which adds to my confusion. When firsts installed it was fine, installation was in March. Anyone experienced this before and resolved it? Thank you in advance. Cheers

Re: AIS NMEA 2000 BUS State

What else is on the bus?

Is the bus power fuse ok? Is the bus turned on?

There are the wind instruments, chart plotter, depth transducer and auto pilot on the bus. I swapped connections around. Others are good, it's just the AIS

Re: AIS NMEA 2000 BUS State

If all of the other instruments are communicating on the buss, the problem lies in the ais. this may be as simple as a configuration error, or as complicated as a failed component in the AIS.

Re: AIS NMEA 2000 BUS State

So this issue has been resolved, kind of. I had someone come onboard who with his own backbone and a NMEA diagnostic tool. My NMEA 2000 on my new AIS unit is not working, it is faulty. This was not a so called cheap Chinese brand, but a expensive western brand, and the support has been lacking as well. We did manage to hard wire it into the chart plotter using 0183. Unfortunately this means my tracking through the WIFI on my backbone does not work and I now lose my sonar. Under warranty? I am in South East Asia, and I bought it across the border in another country. Support in SE Asia is lacking, hence me buying a reputable brand - also lacking. Thank you all for input. Fair winds.
