Re: AIS

Vesper marine Watchmate 850. Love it. Versatile, stand-alone or network, very low power use, also does anchor watch. It is the only complex device I've ever installed that can be operated by a total novice without reading the instructions.

Re: AIS

I have my Vesper XB-8000 antenna mounted below my fiberglass deck and it works well.

Vesper now have a cheaper model without Wifi that has an internal GPS antenna (with optional external),

Best prices I have ever seen here:

Re: AIS

I can only tell you what works for us. We got the first generation ACR ais that came with it's own antenna and gps. We run it on our Raymarine C80 with not issues and have for probably the last 6 years.

We do not believe in splitters as we think each system must carry it's own weight. Same with the GPS. We have 2 - one runs the ais/chartplotter and the other runs other stuff.

ACR stopped making the brand we have some time ago but we got a note from that they came out with a new model. Take a look a ACR but also do not fall into the trap that if I have fewer wires I have less things to go wrong. I our opinion we do not want our ais interfering with our radio and vice versa.
