ACR End of Life (US Only) - what is the impact?

Sorry if this has been covered - I couldn't find anything.

ACR issued an end of life for certain products in the US due to them failing to meet new technical and performance standards required by the FCC. I have a ResQLink+ that is included in this notice.

The notice did not say to stop using them, just that they would no longer be sold.

I tried reading the linked Gov documents but failed to find anything useful with regard to what is missing from these products and what that means in an emergency situation.

Anyone know?

Thanks.

BTW: I have contacted ACR to ask but not sure what I'll get back.

Nothing strange or odd. The products work like the always did, and will continue doing so.

The FCC periodically updates, and changes the rules for new products. To keep legal, manufacturers have the option of upgrading current products, or coming out with new models and dropping the old ones. No big deal.

ACR has decided to drop these existing products in favor of newer models. They might or might not continue to service them.

Nothing to see here.

I have done some additional research and it may be related to the new MEOSAR system. The new ACR PLBs are listed as MEOSAR and Galileo compatible.
