True, ideally you need some cruise ships, but that isn't going to happen anytime soon with the risk they would present.

Still a mention on CF and other forums starts the word spreading. I would also hope that if the rules for isolation are sensible, perhaps folk will comply with them, yes I know, but we can hope.

obviously their (Fiji) call, but how does stopping at a submerged atoll and not coming into contact with anyone outside your boat negatively effect your self quarantine? logic doesn't follow.

No... the reason it isn't happening is that the governments ... Australia, Tonga, NZ, the Samoas, etc, etc, are keeping their borders closed... turning up unannounced won't change that ...

How do you know they didn't have intercourse with another boat while at Minerva..?

50 boats stop there perf year during normal times. logic would dictate the chances of them bumping into another boat out there right now are pretty slim.

If following logic was a thing, the covid mess wouldn't be what it is today in some places.

Logic isn't part of the equation. If it were, then the whole 14 day "quarantine" passage time doesn't stand up to scrutiny. For instance, crew member A gets inflected the day on or just before departure and remains asymptomatic, ten days A inflects crew member B who remains pre symptomatic until after disembarkation.

The rules are in place to be followed, not to be dodged or avoided by using one logic statement or another.

One must be mindful that it's politicians making these rules and consequently logic may be minimal.

Raymond.. be a good chap... take your politics somewhere else... two doors down on the left... just after 'arguments' and just before the door marked 'rational debate'....

Not in Fiji. It's the military that make the rules

Condescending m.....l.

Australia is looking at having about one trillion dollars of debt over these lock downs. That is a trillion dollars to be paid back predominately by our children and grandchildren. So we are selling them into slavery for what. Logic.... you're joking.

Jim and Ann were trapped in Tasmania because of the lock downs and now it not being prudent to voyage north at this time of year. At their age they are in the high risk group from non C19 viruses. Their normal practice is to voyage north to less inclement winter weather where they would be less likely to suffer poor health issues. That's logical....you're dreaming.

Etc. Etc......

Quarantine provisions for mariners on international voyages have been in place by national authorities for hundreds of years. Zatara arrives, seeks free
pratique, serves out their quarantine and no harm is done. That's logical.

Keep it civil please.

Tasmania is the safest place in Oz for Septagenarians at the moment.
Just a little chilly.
Caught up with them today, they are doing fine...
On the other hand, we are in Tas and our boat is in Qld, three borders to navigate....

RaymondR by that logic we will all be travelling in ships when we go overseas during this corona virus, woops we have already done that and what a disaster that was.

Raymond R again by your logic Tassie empties out of oldies as soon as winter arrives?

I understand quarantine for commercial maritime voyages, but for a family of Youtube beggars please. Rightly or wrongly we are guests in whatever country we visit and they decide the rules, even more so during a pandemic.
Cheers

Re: Yacht Zatara Arrvies in Fiji

The CV19 death toll for Australia is just over 100, the death toll for the more common flu during the same period last year was around 400. Misuse or abuse of statistics or logical that elderly and consequently vulnerable people are more likely to die of the common flu than of CV19?

Victoria's problem was caused by poor quarantine practices, some of the security guards supposedly keeping the subjects indoors were socializing with them? The cruise ship incident in NSW by poor free pratique practices.

Hundreds, and perhaps thousands, of people who live in NSW at Tweed Heads work on the Gold Coast which is in Queensland and have to go through checkpoints to and from work every day. The Queensland Premier(State Governor) wants to temporarily move the border south to include Tweed Heads so that these folks are not inconvenienced so badly in going about their lawful business. The NSW Premier says no way. Logical?

Since I am a very confused soul my politics is neither left or right, In economics I'm conservative - you can't distribute wealth until you create it, socially I'm a liberal - I don't give a damn what, and with who, happens behind your bedroom door, and in matters of public administration anarchist - we need a well managed and efficient public service to run any descent civilization, but you can't trust the buggers.
