Willing to contact a boat via your SSB?

Hi
My husband is sailing on our catamaran from Porto Belo, Panama to Cancun, Mexico. He set sail early morning on Monday 7th April. I flew to cancun as I get very seasick so did not want to accompany him.

I'm telling you all this as we organised SSB frequencies to talk on throughout the day in the hope that I could find a boat in Cancun with an SSB that I could use. Unfortunately and surprisingly, I am unable to locate any boat with such a radio. Therefore, I was hoping there might be someone on here who would be willing to speak to him on the Radio, pass him a short message from me and check how he's doing and let me know.

If you are I can let you know the frequencies and timings we arranged.

Thanks very much,

Julie

Re: Willing to contact a boat via your SSB?

Hi, Julie...

This is Bill, WA6CCA. I'm a regular participant in several ham maritime nets with reach into that area.

Question: is your husband a ham? If he's not, I can pass on the info to active participants in a couple of marine SSB nets which reach into that area.

You can reach me directly: bill at wdsg dot com

By the way, according to Passage Weather today he's facing light to moderate northerly winds. These are expected to continue until Friday morning, whence they'll lighten up but still from the north.

Bill
