What I've learned since joining CF!

What I've learned since joining CF:

Don Lucas and his humour are missed!

There are more opinions than there are members<grin>

Gord May is the resident "book of knowledge" and I'll share another beer with him someday.

Don't buy cheap sails...spend the $$, and do it right the first time.

Anchors....oh boy....guns....oh boy....Hunter sailboats....oh boy!

Nobody seems to discuss electric winches...

Electric windlasses are for just about everyone....but not quite all

Buy the biggest, newest sailboat that YOU can afford...and like

If you post problems with your diesel, rigging, wiring, plumbing...you'll find the answer on this forum

You'll find great tips on anchoring, what marinas to visit, which restaurants to eat at, which brokers are good....and not so good

How to dock in a cross current, cross wind...or even with a huge crowd watching you

Some members think true liveaboards have plants in the cockpit....some don't

And certainly not the last thing I've learned...it's the best money I've spent so far in regards to sailing......Paypal or not!

I've learned the " go now " philosophy advice , often followed by a long blog recounting a resulting trauma. !!!

If she still has the winches, they must be worth it. Afterall it was just a pinky.

You can have my electric halyard winch when you pry it from my cold dead, fingerless hands. 20 years with electric winches and never a problem, and 10 fingers and counting.

Re: What I've learned since joining CF!

Maybe someday I we will be able to afford and electric winch. For now I will just have to pull the sail up by hand as I have done for the last fifteen years.

I learn something new every day here on the CF. Lots of smart cruisers are here.

If someone has the wrong anchor or number of hulls, shoot them!

Unless they have a bigger gun.
