Love all of the excitement and positivity in this thread. I'm feeding off it.

I want to spend a few more years (5?) in the S Pacific. The next dream is to spend some time cruising in Thailand where we can kiteboard one day and rock climb the next.

Re: What are your Voyaging Hopes, Plans, Dreams or Vague Intentions for some day!

In the beginning I was going to sail around the world, but now that reality has settled in I've pulled my focus in closer and I'll be happy if I just get to sail in the Chesapeake Bay. For now anyway.

Re: What are your Voyaging Hopes, Plans, Dreams or Vague Intentions for some day!

We have purchased our dream boat. My husband moves aboard next month. He will begin the process of learning the systems of the boat. My daughter and I will remain land locked until the house sells - we hope only a couple months so that she can finish her junior year. We will relocate out to the PNW and she will finish high school out there while Dave and I take lessons and learn how to sail. Our plan is to remain in the Puget Sound area and inside passage for a couple years learning to sail and working when we need to. Then we would like to work summers in Alaska or Washington and sail the west coast the rest of the year. Ultimately we would like to do the Big U. If we are still together, haven't killed each other or sank the boat after that we would consider a circumnavigation. We really have no concrete plans other than learning to sail and getting out there and sailing while we are still young enough and healthy enough to enjoy.

Live aboard. Take 2-3 years to do the Loop. Repeat. Check out the Caribbean.

Living in Australia, there is an endless paradise to explore. Being retired at 44yo is a blessing so I plan on taking my boat to wherever the wind takes me.

Sail around the wine production areas of the world. Find one, enjoy life, fill the tank and wine celler and go to next one (destroying my liver on the way)...

Well in september I'll be buying my first boat and living on her while I take college classes online while in port, and then cruising in my off time (summer, etc.), plus short cruises to the outer banks, etc. Thats the plan, anyways...

Re: What are your Voyaging Hopes, Plans, Dreams or Vague Intentions for some day!

We hope to see a lot of the spots in the Caribe we haven't been to as yet! We only have a few years left to us to sail! and we wish them to be as easy as can be! hence the Caribe. With the availbilty of day or 2 or 3 sailing between good places to anchor, folks to meet and new foods to try! And the weather! AHHH. We also look forward to going back to places like Panama, Columbia, Rio Dulce, All good places to hang out during Hurrycane season! We just want to enjoy our lives like we did for so many years, but in less of a rush LOL we just want out last years to be happy! and sailing has always made us happy !

Making it back to Australia this year is the voyaging hope and plan.
Getting to the bottom of the work list is the dream... and vague intention

I hope to some day get our behemoth out of the slip without putting holes in other people's boats (or the dock).

Well, if you're George Clooney or Brad Pitt you'd better start spending big...

Re: What are your Voyaging Hopes, Plans, Dreams or Vague Intentions for some day!

I first joined this forum while figuring out what to do with a pot of savings and no longer any need for me on the family farm, Buying a boat and bumming around the coast and maybe up to the PI or across to aussie in a couple of years was one option, along with buying a fast motorcycle and road tripping up and down the country. I eventually used it for some TESOL training, a Work Visa, airfares and establishment costs. I spent 13 months in China teaching English and tripping around the country in the school holidays.

Buying a boat and bumming around the pacific is still on the cards whenever I next have a pot of cash and no work. At the moment after the private school I was at after finishing my contract at a public university, went bankrupt. Owed 1 and a half months back pay, airfare which was part of my contract and to be paid at the end of the contract evaporated. So I'm back home no money and no work. I need to find work, save money and then decide whether to get a weekender boat while keeping working, or chuck in the job here then and head back to China again.
