I try to track my favorite threads by subscribing to them. Only two really hit me as changing how I do things.

Re: What are the top 5 most important threads of all time?

I like the ones about the folks that are at a dock one day and out on the ocean the next and heading far away..my all time favorite was the one about Boatman going to Aussie land ,it had a little of everything in it ,sailing repairing, human nature, logistics, troubles and the best part ,when all the folks presented a united front and so many good people gave there money and encouragment, I thought it was great and it made me fill real proud to be a part of such a great group of people..I also think the ones about people working and repairing theirs and others boats are good , the ones that start with a hunk of junk and show progress photos and then present us with the finised work that makes the boat look like it just came from the factory...I am sure there is more ..

Re: What are the top 5 most important threads of all time?

We have a zillion threads that all start the same way: "I've decided to circumnavigate the world but I've never learned to sail. What boat do I need? And by the way, I can only spend...."

Cotemar, am I to understand there already is a FAQ here? How does one refer to it? Go through it?
I know these are newb questions but I do not want to reinvent the wheel.

Re: What are the top 5 most important threads of all time?

Impossible to truly say would be my thoughts. What is important to some is irrelevant to others. Give me a thread full of technical jabber and how to fix things, and i will glaze over and move on. Yes, they are fantastic and informative, but i will search for them if and when i need them.

I come on this forum every day, practically, to see what the other folks who enjoy the cruising lifestyle, doing it or not, are talking about and to converse about boats, sailing and anything else, hopefully with a bit of fun in it. That is the key word for me, fun. Give me a thread where the wit is flying around, or even just plain silly and I am in heaven. Someone mentioned the "Bucket" thread earlier in this one and that was just brilliant, to me. Some fine writing with some hilarious comments, made my week or so on here that one.

Give me fun and laughter, that is what is important in my mind and life, and I am aware that some folks do not come on here for that at all, but there has to be room for it surely.

The "Most Important' is as variable as the "best boat" and which bucket you prefer.

Thanks to everyone on here that has given me those laughs and smiles anyway.

Coops.

Re: What are the top 5 most important threads of all time?

I'd like to point out that certain threads have very high "views"
Wonder who started that thread....

Now, I'm not saying it's all quality, but it is a lot of quantity.

Ya I thought about that OG. For the most hits, I think yours are the clear winners. But what do ordinary people glean from that ? Entertainment most likely, which isn't bad- its just not very informative (unless your single)
