We need input

http://imgcache.clasificadosonline.c...nghl5q_Big.jpg

Hopefully site shows what we have been looking at. Have been reading a lot, called, emiled but no answer. Just wanted all input on what we may have missed and not have thought of to look up. Past, personal or third party input much needed. Not in a rush to sail right away. Maybe a couple years after work is completed with all that may wrong with her. But what a beauty she could be once done

Endeavor Project 40 feet to restore. Helmet in good condition with 5 foot keel. It has 2 rooms with personal baths, kitchen and plenty of space. At the moment only needs restoration and much affection. ,
Endeavor , Restoration Project Endeavor 40 Year 1983 , Pietaje - 40 $ 4,500 , Or best offer

Endeavour - Proyecto de restauraci?n Endeavour 40, Botes Puerto Rico Clasificados Online

We have a catalina 25 in New Orelans. Moved to Puerto Rico almost a year ago. Did research on bringing our vehicles and sail over, shipped, but entirley way to much to deal with. Ya'll know what were talking about. Have been looking for another sail over here, to just island hop and that's it. But damn, we only have four arms and four legs to sell for what they want for something considered a POND HOPPER. Like we said any and all input and criticism accepted.

I am afraid that a $4500 fixer upper is out of your budget range I think.
new engine $20k sails $15k rigging $15k electronic basic package $6k paint and supplies $5k wiring and plumbing parts $4-5k batteries $1000
ground tackle and windlass $4k add in $5k in misc and wood issues your into about $80 thousand plus 2 years hard work for a $60k boat.

When boats get to that condition only a yard with access to used parts and wholesale parts and use of yard worker trained to use the best equipment can bring them back. This poor boat is going to the recycle yard

Re: We need input

LTDAN,

PARROTSAILOR gave some very good advice, and caution about the costs to restore completely an old 40 foot boat that has been neglected and needs replacement of major systems.

My Suggestion?
Avoid the major project boats. There are plenty of nicely maintained boats on the market that are low priced, due to market, and have working engines, etc.

I think there are many other boats that would be a much better than the one you linked, as a starting point for people on a tight budget who want to go sailing.

Also, subscribe and follow this thread, and look back over it to see what may still be available. I will be posting another 12 or more recent good finds soon.

Re: We need input

Just go look at the boat, you don't have to take our word for it. I would not seriously consider buying a boat out of the classifieds, not without taking a good look at it.
That picture shows the very best you could possibly expect. Imo, you should expect a lot worse than that pic. Maybe the reason your e-mail went unanswered was the seller's embarrassed.

If your Catalina 25 is in good condition, you might want to re-visit getting it out to you in PR. It is likely to cost less in the long run than any low dollar fixer upper.

Re: We need input

Hey guys thanks for the replies. Our thing was when we moved toPR we were going to sail but told the wife we get a place then have her shipped. But looking into it it would run about 6k. Talk about sticker shock. Our cars were just as bad price wise for shipping so we just gave them away to family. But not the boat!
