Re: Vale Monte

I only knew Monte through his posts and replies. Always very helpful and generous in sharing.

Sincere condolences to Jen & family.

It's a reminder for us to live life to the fullest and it looks like that is what Monte was doing.

Re: Vale Monte

Such a loss. Deepest condolences to Jen.

Only known him for 3 years but in those 3 he sure crammed in alot - far far more than most in twice the time- so take some comfort in that. Fellow surfer, kiter and sailor. He knew how to get the most out of life.

Gutted for him that he never made it as far as the Pacific on Sephina. I know I will be thinking of him when I finally get through the Panama Canal.

Re: Vale Monte

So sad.

I only knew Rob through CF, but his posts were always full of helpful advice with a dose of humour.

He will be missed.

Deepest sympathy to Jen and all the family.

Deepest sympathies, and condolences to his family, and all who knew & loved Monte.
I only knew him through his posts here - always to the point and never offensive.
Great loss to the community.
Is the name of the boat (Sephina) a Hebrew word?

Re: Vale Monte

Damn! Monte was so helpful in our passage planning to Portugal and thoughts of buying a catamaran - what a great guy.

Thoughts go out to Jen & families.

Re: Vale Monte

Truly tragic!
I only knew Monte through the forum and the multiple emails we exchanged. He was always very generous with his time and knowledge as he guided us through our year long process of acquiring our sailboat. I must've asked him a dozen stupid questions but he was never condescending, impolite or dismissive. He was a true gentleman. It was very evident that he loved sailing , what he was doing and life in general. He truly wanted others to experience the same joy.
I read this entire thread and it speaks volumes of the man's character , having managed to touch the lives of so many he never met in person

I raise my glass to you Monte..... "Now, Voyager, sail thou forth, to seek and find"

Re: Vale Monte

Just terrible, shocking news.

I've only corresponded with Rob, but would have loved to meet him in person.

My heart goes out to Jen.

Re: Vale Monte

Our deepest condolences to Jen and family. Monte, as I knew him on CF, provided balanced, fair and non-controversial moderator feedback. He was well respected. And he will be missed.

Re: Vale Monte

Hi everyone,

It's hard to find words even when there's so many to say...

I wish I could write the most beautiful lyrics for him but
I am far from be as good writer as Monte. I just feel like I need to tell you something, anything but something.

SO I want to Thank you all for your words and thoughts, but above all for having been taking the time to share with Monte his dream, knowledge and that same passion for oceans.
I never really came here before, but I heard a lot of stories, funny, weird or else, that Monte was enjoying reading me large smile on his face. That little giggling he had when he was quietly reading the forum allowed me to see the enjoyment he had when he was sharing with you guys what he really likes.
I love him so much!

I will now need a lot of informations, I'll have thousand of questions and in The cruel twist of irony, never Monte will be answering them. But I am sure that I'll find a lot of answers in his previous posts but also from all of you.
For now
I still in bequia waiting for his remains
Then I'll keep sailing his dream
I'll set sail far away from shore
And with the fair winds
I'll go where my Captain can rest in peace.

thank you again.
Jen.
