Re: The Average Cruiser

I'll recheck once I'm a cruiser. Currently like most here I'm just someone who goes sailing.

Think you could also add the following to your list:
Plays a musical instrument.
Has a 9.9 or 15hp outboard.
Has enough food on board to last for six months.
Hasn't worn lace-up shoes in years.
Has seen the green flash.
Has bought a crucial spare only to discover they already have one in the back of the locker.

Re: The Average Cruiser

Chose a cruising life stye to break away from the average... apparently without success.

Some deck cargo. Jerry cans, anyway.

Has more tools on the boat then were ever at home.

as read Slocum, "A Voyage for Madmen", "Captains Courageous", and Tristan Jones... and knew Tristan told some tall tales before the biography came out.

----

Of course, the checklist is, for the most part, a list of what works.

Wow! 24 out of 25, and we haven't even left yet. I suppose we could start drinking again.

Re: The Average Cruiser

I'm thinking of the song lyric "I want to be different, just like all of the other different people".

Great list.

I would say that so far my experience of cruisers in the S Pacific: I'm not seeing many pets and although people seem to be having a great time I wouldn't call them relaxed.
